SHC adjourns hearing of petroleum consignment case till 29th

KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) has summoned Collector Exports for May 29 in a petition filed by Reliance Petro Chemicals.

The collector was summoned by a SHC division bench, comprising Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar and Justice Agha Faisal. The company, dealing in petroleum products, maintained in their plea filed through that a huge consignment of three million tonnes of raw material was being stuck at Chaman border. The petitioner maintained that facilities for weighment of the cargo in question were inadequate.

A senior custom official associated with the investigation in cases against petitioner maintained that physical examination was conducted in a cursory manner. It was also submitted that a special team comprising officials of Pakistan Custom was sent to Chaman who declared that weighment of the consignment is deplorable.

The bench, however, in order to decide the issue asked the respondents to consider the suggestion made by the petitioner.
