SHC appoints Dr Shahab Imam advocate as amicus curia

KARACHI: A two-member bench of the Sindh High Court (SHC) headed by Justice Irfan Saadat Khan has appointed Dr Shahab Imam Advocate High Court as Amicus Curia (friend of the court) so as to assist in the matter of imposition of regulatory duty (RD) on iron steel goods and importers.

Earlier, Sindh High Court declared imposition of regulatory duty on steel products as illegal. Pakistan Customs has filed a petition challenging the decision of SHC in Supreme Court of Pakistan. But the petition was rejected. After the court decision, importers filed petition to withdraw the regulatory duty.

Now a two-member bench of the Sindh High Court has announced to appoint Dr. Shahab Imam who is an expert in customs laws to assist the court in the matter and directed him to appear before the court within fifteen days.
