KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) granted protective bail to former president and co-chairman Pakistan People’s Party and his sister Faryal Talpur against the surety of Rs1,000,000 each for 10 days in fake bank accounts scam, corrupt practices in extending loan and its misappropriation by M/s Parthenon Pvt Ltd, M/s Park Lane Estates Pvt Ltd and others.
On March 19, 2019, both leaders appeared before the court and their counsel Farooq H Naik Advocate argued that petitioners are quite innocents and have nothing to do with the alleged acts of corruption and corrupt practices and are ready to appear before concerned court, however, they have apprehension of their imminent arrest, therefore, they approached this court for transitory-cum-protective bail.
After the hearing, court granted their bail and passed order that “without touching the merits of the case or the accusations, petitioners are granted transitory-cum-protective bail for a period of ten days from today to enable their appearance before concerned court, Islamabad, subject to furnishing solvent surety in the sum of Rs1,000,000 each with PR bonds in the like amount to the satisfaction of the nazir of this court. These orders cease to have its effect on March 29, 2019 or when the petitioners appear before the concerned court or the court of competent jurisdiction, whichever is earlier in time”.
Court also disposed of bail applications along with listed applications. After the hearing, Asif Ali Zardari and Faryal Talpur appeared in the evening before the court office and submitted their surety and signed surety documents.
It needs to be mentioned here NAB officials had issued call-up notice to Asif Ali Zardari and Bilawal Bhutto and summoned them on March 20, 2019 at NAB Islamabad.
