SHC approves protective bail of suspect booked in tax evasion case

KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) granted protective bail to suspect namely Shoukat Ali son of Hamza against the surety of Rs25, 000 for 15 days who was booked in a case of evading the duty and taxes in the tune of Rs965, 465.

On September 12, 2019, above mentioned suspect appeared before the court along with his counsel and moved petition for protective bail, he argued that applicant is innocent and has been falsely implicated in the instant case, he wants to surrender before trail court, however, he has apprehension of arrest, therefore, court may grant him bail.

He further argued that investigation officer and other customs officials have surrounded the trail court as such it is made difficult for applicant to approach the trail court for getting appropriate relief as such he has appeared before this court for seeking protective bail.

After the hearing, court passed order and observed that “considering the submissions advanced by the counsel for the applicant and without touching merits of the case, the applicant is granted protective bail for a period of 15 days subject of furnishing surety of Rs25,000 (rupees twenty five thousands only) and PR bond in the like amount to the satisfaction of Nazir of this court, this protective bail shall remain in force for 15 days from today or the date of which the applicant will surrender himself before the trail court, whichever is earlier”.
