SHC Customs appellate bench issues notices in identical petitions

KARACHI: A Sindh High Court’s Customs appellate bench has issued notices to the federal government, FBR, Customs for Nov 7 while hearing more than two dozen identical petitions.

The Customs appellate bench was comprised of JusticeMunib Akhtar and Justice Omar Sial. The petitioners including All Pakistan Tiles Association seek benefit of SRO 497 of 2009 now denied to them.

The same bench hearing a number of identical petitions pertaining to imposition of regulatory duty (RD) ordered issuance of notices for Nov 08 to the federal government, FBR, Customs Collectorates named in the petitions. The bench as an interim arrangement ordered release of imported goods as per terms decided in an earlier petition in respect of RD.
