SHC directs to deblock NTN of M/s Najam Associates

KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) directed customs officials to entertain the request of the petitioner to deblock its NTN accordance with law on a petition filed by M/s Najam Associates.

A two-member bench, headed by Justice Aqeel Ahmed Abbasi, was hearing the matter.

On 24.9.2018, during the hearing, counsel for the petitioner stated that petitioner is engaged in imports of electrical and mechanical engineering goods and always fulfills all the legal formalities.

He submitted that customs officials has blocked its NTN-user ID and illegally detained the goods arrived at port and blocked NTN and demanded duty and taxes in the tune of Rs421,092.

Citing Chairman Federal Board of Revenue, Collector of Customs Collectorate Appraisement East and others as respondents, petitioner pleaded the court to declare that act of the respondents as illegal, mala-fide and arbitrary.

He also pleaded the court to direct them to deblock its NTN- user ID immediately and restrain them from taking any coercive action against the petitioner till final order in this petition.
