KARACHI: A division bench of the Sindh High Court (SHC) directed customs department to immediately release consignment imported by Zahir Shah free of charge.
On 26 February 2022, after detailed hearing of the case, SHC bench comprising Justice Zulfiqar Ahmed Khan and Justice Adnan Iqbal Chaudhry issued the directives.
Muhammad Ishaq Advocate, advocate for petitioner and Masooda Siraj advocate appeared before the court on behalf of customs department.
The bench after detailed hearing ordered immediate release of the consignment. The bench also held that as the release was delayed due to fault of the department, no charges including demurrage or detention would be charged from the importer/petitioner.
