SHC gives Qaim Ali Shah clean chit in illegal land allotment case

KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Tuesday declared former chief minister of the province Syed Qaim Ali Shah innocent in a case pertaining to the illegal allotment of 94 acres of land in Malir.

The verdict was announced after the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) prosecutor’s found no evidence against Shah and decided to close the inquiry. NAB says not arresting Qaim Ali Shah at this stage

Last year, the court granted two weeks for submission of the NAB DG’s report regarding the case and ordered the investigation officer (IO) to complete the inquiry by September 9. The court also extended the interim bail of the accused.

According to NAB’s allegation, Shah illegally allotted government land to Mehran Society and Golf Builders. Later, he cancelled the allotment and now Sindh government is in possession of the land.
