SHC grants protective bail to Fasihuddin Ahmed, CEO Pakistan Gas Port Consortium Limited

KARACHI: A division-bench comprising Chief Justice Ahmed Ali M Shaikh and Justice Umer Sial granted protective bail to Fasihuddin Ahmed son of Iqbal Z Ahmed, chief executive officer (CEO) of Pakistan Gas Port Consortium Limited, AG Publications and Omni Media and member board of directors of Jamshoro Joint Venture Limited (JJVL) against call-up notice issued by NAB authorities in money laundering case.

On 20 September 2019, court also directed him to join investigation and appear before the court till 23 October 2019 before NAB court Islamabad. Court issued notices to DG NAB and directed them to submit reply on next date of hearing.

During the hearing, Farooq H Naik advocate appeared before the court along with applicant and argued that father of the applicant has been arrested by NAB officials and issued call-up notice dated 11 September 2019 which stated that the NAB is conducting as inquiry on various allegations punishable under provisions of NAB Ordinance, 1999.

Counsel argued that aforesaid call-up notice called upon the petitioner to submit various records, documents pertaining to multiple companies via an officer concerned. The record sought also included information of the personal accounts of the petitioners.

He submitted that petitioner gravely apprehended that he would be arrested at the hands of the respondents on the basis of the said call-up notice especially keeping in mind that the same was not served upon him through an official channel.
