KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) issued a notice to M/s Haroon Oil Limited on an appeal filed by the Inland Revenue Zone-IV commissioner of the Large Taxpayer Unit, challenging the appellate tribunal’s order against the recovery of sale taxes.

A two-member bench, headed by Justice Aqeel Ahmed Abbasi, was hearing the petition. The court also directed the respondent to file para-wise comments on the next date of hearing.

Earlier, counsel for the applicant stated that respondent is private limited company and engaged in the business of blending and sale of oil.

According to the applicant, a show cause notice was issued to the respondent for recovery of sale tax, however, despite submission of the sales tax, respondent approached the authority concern and filed an appeal against applicant’s order which was dismissed. However, the respondent filed another appeal before appellate tribunal which allowed the appeal without considering the facts and law.

Citing M/s Haroon Oil Limited as a respondent, the applicant pleaded that the court may set aside the order of the appellate tribunal and restore the order of the applicant.
