KARACHI: A Sindh High Court’s customs appellate bench has ordered release of a dumper truck impounded by the Hyderabad Customs.

The bench, comprising Justice Munib Akhtar and Justice Omar Sial, was hearing Ms Dil Khurram Saheen advocate appearing for petitioner Long Khan. She maintained that every vehicle has a “cavity” and restrictions apply on “false cavity” alone. She maintained that as per show cause and other documents, the dumper truck was detained for having a “cavity” and no where it was alleged that the vehicle had a “false cavity” hence SRO 499 of 2009 does not apply. She prayed to the court to order release of the vehicle on ground that custom authorities have illegally detained the vehicle, sole source of income of the petitioner.
