SHC postpones hearing of plea filed by Sindh Revenue Board against Television Media Network

KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) has adjourned the hearing of an application filed by Sindh Revenue Board against M/s Television Media Network (Private) Limited for payment of sales tax. A division bench of the SHC headed by Justice Munib Akhter was hearing the application. During hearing of the case, the petitioner’s counsel requested for some time to submit his comments.

Earlier, the petitioner’s counsel stated that the official information provided by PEMRA, Karachi on July 12, 2013, the  M/s Television Media Network is liable to register, e-file the returns and pay the sales tax.

According to the petitioner, a notice was served on M/s Television Media Network for the non-payment of sales tax. A penalty of Rs 210,000 was imposed on the respondent. However it approached the Appellate Tribunal which termed the penalty as unlawful.
