SHC seeks comments from M/s Sun Gravure on plea filed by Customs intelligence

KARACHI: The Sindh High Court issued notice to M/s Sun Gravure directing it to file comments  on an application filed by Director, Directorate General of Intelligence and Investigation -FBR, Anti-Smuggling (Customs) challenging the order of Customs Appellate Tribunal over duty and taxes evasion scam.

The SHC judge Justice Munib Akhter sought the comments from the respondent t on the next hearing while hearing an application.

Earlier, the counsel of the applicant stated that on a credible information, customs authorities intercepted four trucks at Habib Bank SITE area Karachi and found illegal/unauthorized removal of prime quality BOPP film rolls.

According to the applicant, during the investigation it was found that respondent are involved in evasion of duty and taxes to the tune of Rs 5,542,242 in violation of the customs laws.

However, respondent filed an appeal before Customs Appellate Tribunal which was accepted by the Tribunal . The counsel submitted that Appellate Tribunal has failed to observe case on merit and accordance with law therefore court was requested to set aside order of the Appellate Tribunal.
