SHC seeks comments from tax authorities on plea filed by M/s Nida Azwer

KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC  has sought comments from the federal and provincial tax authorities and deputy attorney general on a petition filed by designer M/s Nida Azwer against show cause notice, asking recovery of disputed income tax return for the tax year 2015. A division bench, comprising Justice Munib Akhter and Justice Abdul Malik Gaddi, heard the petition.

Earlier, the petitioner’s counsel stated that petitioner is engaged in the business of retail sale of wearing-apparel through own outlet with the name of “Nida Azwer”. According to the petitioner, the assistant commissioner Unit – 19 Sindh Revenue Board issued a show cause notice to the petitioner asking to provide income tax return for the tax year 2015 and other related documents.

The petitioner added that the respondents have no authority to interpret any provisions of the law and made an attempt to mold the facts into their favor.

Citing assistant commissioner Unit – 19 SRB, secretary Revenue division, chairman FBR as respondents, the petitioner pleaded the SHC to set aside impugned show cause notice and restrain the respondents from taking any coercive action against it.
