SHC seeks comments on petition filed by M/s Textile Mode

KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) directed customs officials to make sure to file their respective para wise comments on a constitutional petition filed by M/s Textile Mode, proprietor of Muhammad Farooq Reman seeking restoration of its sales tax return number suspended by customs officials. A two-member bench, headed by Justice Munib Akhtar heard the matter.

Earlier, counsel for the petitioner stated that it is engaged in the lawful business of manufacturing of textile, import & export and fulfills all the liabilities according with law, however, officials of the customs authorities issued a show cause notice to the petitioner and suddenly suspended its sales tax return number without fulfilling legal requirements.

Citing secretary Ministry of Finance, chief commissioner Inland Revenue Corporate RTO, commissioner Inland Revenue IV Corporate RTO as respondents, petitioner pleaded the court to declare the act of the respondents as illegal, mala fide and arbitrary.

He also pleaded the court to restore its sales tax return number immediately and restrain them from taking any coercive action against the petitioner till final order in this petition.
