SHC calls comments on petition seeking release of Toyota Land Cruiser

KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) has directed the customs authorities to file their respective para wise comments on a constitutional petition filed by Nasir Hussain, seeking release of his Toyota Land Cruiser jeep bearing registration number BD-3132 Karachi.

A two-member bench, headed by Justice Munib Akhtar, was hearing the petition. During the hearing, counsel for the customs department sought time to submit para-wise comments, therefore, the court adjourned the matter.

Earlier, counsel for the petitioner stated that he is lawful owner of Toyota Land Curser jeep bearing registration number BD-3132 Karachi, he purchased this vehicle after fulfilling all the liabilities, however, officials of the customs department seized by customs officials.

He further informed the court that he produced all the legal documents before concerned authorities, however, officials of the customs department refused to issue release order of his vehicle.

Citing Secretary Ministry of Finance, Model Customs Collectorate and others as respondents, he pleaded the court to direct them to issue release order of his vehicle immediately and restrain them from taking any coercive action against the petitioner.
