A SHC appellate bench, comprising Justice Munib Akhtar and Justice Zulfiqar Ahmed Khan, was hearing a constitution petition filed by Minitech Corporation which imported internet cables. A Deputy Collector Customs appeared before the court in person on court’s notice. She told the bench that she has issued the release order as per court’s direction but petitioner failed to lift the same and instead blaming the department officers.

The bench took strong exception and said action would be taken for an incorrect statement made before the court by any side. The bench then asked the importer to file an affidavit by Aug 31, stating that whether the statement made by the respondent officer is correct or not or whether he failed in lifting the same after consignment was released by the Pakistan Customs.
