SHC seeks remarks from tax dept on petition filed by M/s Fecto Cement

KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) has issued notices to the tax authorities and the deputy attorney general, directing them to file their respective para wise comments on a constitutional petition filed by M/s Fecto Cement Limited against impugned recovery notice of Rs 67,872,570. A two-member bench, headed by Justice Aqeel Ahmed Abbasi, was hearing the petition.

Earlier, counsel for the petitioner stated that Additional Commissioner Inland Revenue Audit Range-A, Zone-II passed an order for recovery of the disputed money without lawful reasons and authority. Being aggrieved, the petitioner moved Commissioner Inland Revenue Appeals-I and filed an appeal along with stay application, which is still pending for disposal. However, the customs authorities have issued notice to the petitioner for recovery of the said amount.
