SHC seeks final arguments on petition filed by M/s Textile Mode

KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Wednesday directed customs officials to complete arguments on a constitutional petition filed by M/s Textile Mode, proprietor of Muhammad Farooq Rehman, seeking restoration of its sales tax return number suspended by customs officials, a two-member bench heard the matter.

Earlier, counsel for the petitioner stated that it is engaged in the lawful business of manufacturing of textile, import and export and fulfills always all the liabilities according to law; however, officials of the customs authorities issued show cause notice to the petitioner and suddenly suspended its sales tax return number without fulfilling legal requirements.

Citing Secretary Ministry of Finance, Chief Commissioner Inland Revenue Corporate RTO, commissioner Inland Revenue IV Corporate RTO as respondents, petitioner pleaded the court to declare that act of the respondents as illegal, mala fide and arbitrary.

He also pleaded the court to restore its sales tax return number immediately and restrain them from taking any coercive action against the petitioner till final order in this petition.
