SHC summons govt official on petition filed by M/s Pakistan Mobile Communication

KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) has issued a notice to Abdul Ghani, Director Advertisement District Municipal Corporation East and summoned him along with relevant record on a contempt application filed by M/s Pakistan Mobile Communication Limited against violation of previous court orders over impugned notice of survey of advertisement display and moving tax collation.

A two-member bench, comprising Justice Munib Akhter and Justice Abdul Malik Gaddi, was hearing the application.

During the hearing counsel for the petitioner submitted that court had restrained the respondents from adopting any coercive measures for the recovery till further order but on May 21,2016 the contemnors, without issuing any notice had removed the sign boards of services centre of Mobilik situated at Gulshan-e-Iqbal.

The counsel for the petitioner argued that respondents had deliberately disobeyed the order of the SHC passed on September 15,2014. After the arguments, the court issued notice to the alleged contemnor called him in person along with record.

Earlier, the petitioner’s counsel stated that respondents issued notice to the petitioner in July 2013 for the year 2013/201regarding the subject of survey of advertising display for the year 2013/2014 with direction to provide paid challan advertisement fee for the year 2013/2014.

According to the petitioner, the respondent again issued notice to the petitioner regarding shops signing for the year 2014/2015 without lawful authority.

Citing Administrator Karachi Metropolitan Corporation ( KMC ), additional director Advertisement Local Tax KMC, additional director Local Tax ( Advertisement ) Moving Publicity Advertisement, deputy commissioner East and others as the respondents, the petitioner pleaded the SHC to set aside impugned notices and restrain the respondents from taking any coercive action against the petitioner.
