SHC suspends sales tax registration of M/s A.J Enterprise

KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) suspended the notification of sales tax registration of Jamal Abdul Qadir which was suspended by customs authorities.

The SHC bench headed by Justice Muneeb Akhter was hearing an application of Jamal Abdul Qadir associated with the M/s A.J Enterprise and adjourned the hearing till 13th April 2016.

Earlier, counsel of the petitioner stated that petitioner is an importer and exporter with the name and style as M/s A.J Enterprise and filing his monthly sales tax returns according to law. The counsel said that registration was suspended by commissioner IR on 27 Jan 2016.

In a reply petitioner explained all the situation but respondents do not agree to withdraw suspension order. “His goods are on the way and due to blockage of huge finance in the shape of said consignment he would become unable to fulfill his commitments in the market and will suffer heavy damurrage.

He pleaded the court to direct the respondents immediately restore the sales tax registration and may give an interim relief.
