SHC to hear hundreds of identical petitions against Valuation on 22nd

KARACHI: The Sindh High Court would hear hundreds of similar petitions on Aug 22 against customs valuation as the appellate bench issued notice to Pakistan Customs’ Directorate of Valuation for the same day.

The notice was issued by the appellate bench which was comprised of Justice Munib Akhtar and Justice Zulfiqar Ahmed Khan.

The petitions were filed by Global Traders, Z.A Enterprises and Hansika who imported toiletries, baby diapers and body spray. The Director Customs Valuation ordered enhancement of customs duty and other levies in violation of relevant sections including section 25 (d) of the Customs Act 1969.

Ghulam Hyder Shaikh of Franklin Law Associates appearing for the petitioners submitted that identical cases are fixed for hearing on Aug 22.

The bench while issuing notices ordered that these may also be fixed for hearing on same date i.e Aug 22 when hundreds of other identical petitions would be heard.
