SHC to hear petition filed by M/s Khawaja Shahid seeking restoration of NTN/WeBOC ID today

KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) has fixed September 7 , 2016 as date of hearing of a constitutional petition filed by M/s Khawaja Shahid Rashid, seeking de-blocking of its NTN/ WeBOC ID. The tax number is blocked by Customs Collectorate, East.

In the constitutional petition, counsel for the petitioner stated that petitioner is regular importer of mercaptoacetic acid (thioglyelic acid ) from Germany. The counsel said that the petitioner imported consignments of the same form Germany and filed goods declaration on June 27, 2016.

According to the petitioner, however, it was surprised to learn that its NTN/ WeBOC ID has been blocked by the officials of the Customs Collectorate East against some recovery which was not intimated to the petitioner through a recovery notice.

The petitioner said that blocking of the petitioner’s NTN / WeBOC ID by the said respondents is ab – initio, illegal and ultra vires of law.

Citing secretary Ministry of Finance, chairman Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), Collector of Customs Appraisement East, and Assistant Collector of Customs  (Recovery) Customs Collectorate, Appraisement-East as respondents, petitioner pleaded the SHC to direct the respondents to de-block  the NTN / WeBOC use ID of the petitioner.
