Shehbaz reviews solar energy projects

LAHORE: Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, presiding over a high-level meeting, eviewed different proposals regarding installation of solar tube-wells, converting schools on solar energy and running of water filtration plants for Saaf Pani Project through solar energy.

Addressing the meeting, Shahbaz Sharif said the government is implementing a comprehensive program of use of solar energy and has evolved a program of converting 5,000 schools of the province on solar energy. He directed that a comprehensive plan be evolved regarding installation of solar tube-wells in Punjab and promotion of use of solar energy in view of energy crisis faced by the country is need of the hour.

The CM said that provision of solar tube-wells to small cultivators could leave a positive impact on agriculture. He said decisions should be taken in consultation with solar energy experts and practical steps should be taken speedily.

German Consultant Dr Dreesmann gave a briefing regarding use of solar energy. Provincial Minister for Housing Tanvir Aslam Malik, Chairman Saaf Pani Company MPA Muhammad Kashif Padhiyar, Chairman Planning & Development, Secretary Finance, Energy, Housing, Health and concerned officials attended the meeting.
