BEIJING: Shijiazhuang Customs District released the news that its affiliated Qinhuangdao Customs House cracked a cosmetics smuggling case worth over RMB20 million, detaining a 40-foot-long container filled with 1,488 boxes of cosmetics that were smuggled inward.

In late March 2015, Qinhuangdao Customs Division of Anti-Smuggling conducted 24-hour monitoring over a logistics company in Qinhuangdaodue to information that the company was transferring certain container suspected of smuggling goods. When the container arrived at the company site, the anti-smuggling officers immediately took action on the smuggling. Through investigation, it was verified that a South Korean company dispatched the containerized goods, all cosmetics from South Korea, by falsely declaring them as “Detergents” on the bill of lading and that Chinese dealers surnamed Zhou, Sun and Han organized the inward smuggling via Qinhuangdao port by using the false declaration and tried to distribute the cosmetics to different buyers in China through a domestic logistics company. During the investigation, 9 suspects involved were successively captured by Customs.
