Shipping activity at Port Qasim

KARACHI: Shipping activity remained active at the Port where ships CV Maersk Chicago, CV CMA CGM Thames and MT Omera Queen carrying Containers and Furnace oil were berthed at Qasim International Container Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively.

Meanwhile two more ships MT Wel Beck and M.V Tomini Harmony carrying Containers and Soya bean also arrived at outer anchorage of of Port Qasim during last 24 hours.

Berth occupancy was managed at 33% at the Port on Tuesday where a total of five ships namely, CV Maersk Chicago, CV CMA CGM Thames, CV MSC Los Angeles, M.V Amalthia and MT Omera Queen were occupied PQA berths to load/offload Containers, Soya Bean seeds and Furnace oil respectively during last 24 hours Cargo throughput during last 24 hours stood at 130,499 tonnes, comprising 91,739 tonnes imports and 38,760 tonnes exports, inclusive of containerized cargo carried in 4,424 Containers (TEUs) 2,384 TEUs imports & 2,040 TEUS exports) was handled at the Port. Container Vessel ‘Maersk Chicago’ sailed out to sea on Wednesday morning, while bulk cargo carrier ‘Amalthia’ is expected to sail on same day afternoon.

A total of five ships CV Sealand Champion, CV CMA CGM Attila, MT Wel Beck, M.V Lolis-D and M.V Tomini Harmony carrying Containers, 12,000 tonnes Palm oil, 37,507 tonnes Coal and 57,842 tonnes Soya bean seeds are expected to take berths at Container Terminal, Liquid Terminal and Grain & Fertilizer Terminal respectively on Wednesday, 4th May-2016. While two more ships CV MSC Charleston and CV Mataquito are due to arrive at Port Qasim on Thursday, 5th May-2016.
