KARACHI: Shipping activity remained active at the port where three ships CV Mata Quito, MV Fernando and MT Gas Lion carrying containers, General cargo and LPG were berthed at Qasim International Container Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal and SSGC Terminal respectively.
In the meantime three morer ship CV Atacama, MT Al-Dasma and MT Safe Sea Neha with containers, Diesel oil and silicon slag also got anchored at outer anchorage of Port Qasim. Berth occupancy was observed at 60% at the port on Thursday where a total of nine berths were engaged by ships namely CV Mata Quito, CV CMACGM Thames, CV Maersk Stockholm, MV Fernando, MV Kiran Antolia, MV Ocean Prince, MT Maran Gas Asclepius, MT Gas Lion and MT Okyroe to load/offload containers, coal, canola seeds, soya bean seeds, general cargo, LPG, LNG and furnace oil respectively during last 24 hours.
Cargo throughput during last 24 hours stood at 157,380 tonnes, comprising 128,880 tonnes import cargo and 28,500 tonnes export cargo inclusive of containerized cargo carried in 2,500 containers (TEUs)(1,000 imports TUEs & 1,500 TUEs exports) was handled at the port.
Oil tanker okyroe sailed out sea on Friday morning while another ship are MT Maran Gas Ascleplus, CV Mata Quito and MV Kiran Antolia are expected to sail on same day afternoon. Two ships CV Atacama and MT Navig-8 executive carrying containers and diesel oil are expected to take berths at Container Terminal and FOTCO terminal respectively on Friday. While two more container ships Uni Florida and San francisca are due arrive at Port Qasim on same day, and more two ships CV MSC Antalya and CV Hermes are due to arrive on Saturday.
