KARACHI: The Port where four ships C.v Savannah, M.T Tianfu, M.T Tomson Gas and M.T Chemroad Mega carrying containers, LPG and palm oil were allotted berths at Qasim International Container, Multi-Purpose, SSGC Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Wednesday.Meanwhile a gas carrier methano heather carrying 60,828 tonnes LNG also arrived at outer anchorage of Port Qasim during last 24 hours.
Berth occupancy was maintained at the Port at fifty six percent on Wednesday where a total of nine ships namely, Mearsk Savannah, Maersk Hartford, MSC Al-Ghero, Chong Mong, Tianfu, Dione, Tomson Gas, Chemroad Mega and Formosa Falcon are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, general, soya bean, LPG, paim oil and diesel oil respectively during last 24 hours.
Cargo handling operation were carried out smoothly at the Port where a cargo volume of 124,084 tonnes comprising 72,936 tonnes import cargo and 51,148 tonnes export cargo inclusive of containerized cargo carried in 4, 641 containers (TEUs) (1,949 imports TUEs & 2,692 TUEs exports) was handled during last 24 hours.
Container ship Maersk Hartford sailed out to sea on Thursday morning, while three more ships MSC Al-Ghero, Chong Mong and Formosa Falcon are expected to sail on same day afternoon.
A total of five ships, C.V Suez Chanel, M.V Orion Ocean, M.T Chemroad Joumey, M.T Silver Phillipa and M.T Methane Heater carrying containers, coal, paim oil, diesel oil and LNG are expected to take berths at QICT, PIBT, LCT, FOTCO and EETL respectively on Thursday, while C.V Hugo Schulte and CNNI Arauco are due arrive at Port Qasim .
