Shipping activity at Port Qasim

KARACHI: Two ships, bulk cargo carrier Global Phoenix and Gas carrier Kahyasi carrying 40,000 tonnes Coal and 5,325 tonnes LPG were allotted berths at Multi Purpose Terminal and Engro Vopak Terminal respectively during last 24 hours, said a report issued by Port Qasim Authority (PQA) here on Thursday.  Meanwhile two more ships Fortune Villa and Intrepid Republic with Furnace oil and Chemicals also arrived at outer anchorage of Port Qasim during last 24 hours.

Berth occupancy was managed at the Port at 50% on Wednesday where a total of eight ships namely, MSC Albany, Maersk Columbus, African Falcon, Global Phoenix, Rui Ning-2, Good Hope Max, Kahyasi and Lion-M are currently occupying berths to load/offload Containers, Cement, Coal, Soya Bean, LPG, Palm oil and Furnace oil respectively.  A cargo volume of 100,247 tonnes, comprising 64,596 tonnes import cargo and 35,651 tonnes export cargo inclusive of containerized cargo carried in 2,211 Containers TUEs) 603 imports TUEs and 1,608 TUEs exports) was handled at the Port.

Two ships, Container Vessel Maersk Columbus and Oil tanker M-Lion sailed out to sea on Thursday morning, while two more ships C.V MSC Albany and M.T Kahyasi are expected to sail on same day afternoon.

Three ships C.V Maipo, M.T Sovereign and M.T Lumphini Park are expected to take berths at QICT, FOTCO and EVTL respectively on Thursday, while three more ships CMA CGM Amazon, Uni Florida and Ruri with Containers and General Cargo are due to arrive at PQ on Friday.
