Shipping activity at Port Qasim

KARACHI: Brisk shipping activity was observed at Port Qasim where seven ships C.V MSC Mykonos, C.V MSC Aysa, C.V CMA CGM Tosca, M.V Celebration, M.V Frontier Leader and MTM Singapore, M.T Chemroad Saruna carrying Containers, 209 tonnes General Cargo, 63,835 tonnes Canola seeds 19,476 tonnes Phosphoric Acid and 13.000 tonnes Palm oil were allotted berths at Qasim International Container Terminal, Multi-Purpose Terminal, Grain & Fertilizer Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Monday (May 29, 2017).

Berth occupancy was observed at the Port at 56 percent on Monday where a total of nine ships namely, MSC Mykonos, MSC Aysa, CMA CGM Tosca, Celebration, Rui Ning-2, Frontier Leader, MTM Singapore, Chemroad Saruna and Impros were occupying PQA berths to load/offload Containers, General cargo, Coal Canola seeds, Phosphoric Acid and Palm oil and Furnace oil respectively during last 24 hours.

Cargo handling registered an upward trend at the Port where a cargo volume of 143,815 tonnes, comprising 132,795 tonnes import cargo and 11,020 tonnes export cargo inclusive of containerized cargo carried in 3,240 Containers TEUs 2,660 imports TUEs & 580 TUEs exports) was handled at the Port during the last 24 hours.

Container vessel MSC Aysa sailed out to sea on Tuesday morning, while six more ships including MSC Mykonos, CMA CGM Tosca, Celebration Rui Ning-2, Chemroad Saruna and Impros were expected to sail on same day.

Five ships C.V UASC Al-Khor, Maersk Kensington, C.V NYK Furano. M.V Anthemis and M.T Spruce-2 carrying Containers, 39,285 tonnes Canola and 55,724 tonnes Diesel oil are expected to take berths at Container Terminal, Multi-Purpose Terminal and FOTCO Terminal respectively on Tuesday, (May 30), while a bulk cargo carrier Eternal Triumph with 42,527 tonnes Coal was due to arrive at Port Qasim on same day, and two more ships C.V Deira and M.V Lian Hua Ling re due to arrive at Port Qasim on Wednesday (May 31), and C.V Mataquito is due to arrive Thursday, (June 01 2017).
