Shipping activity at Port Qasim

KARACHI: Four ships M.V Ru Yi Yong, M.T MR Oresrles, M.T Thomson Gas and M.T M YM Miranda carrying project cargo, palm oil, LPG and chemicals took berths at Multi Purpose Terminal, Liquid Cargo Terminal, SSGC Terminal and Engro Vopak Terminal respectively on Wednesday.

Meanwhile two more ships, gas carrier Maran Gas Asclepius and Bulk cargo carrier Tzou-Maz also arrived at outer anchorage of Port Qasim during last 24 hours. Berth occupancy was observed at the port at 65% on Wednesday where a total of eleven ships namely, ALP Miami, Express Makalu, C.V Narmada, Porthos, Ru Yi Song, Sky Globe, Iris-II YM Miranda, Thomson Gas, MR Oresrles and Karachi were occupied at PQA berths to load/offload containers, general cargo, coal, soya bean seeds, chemicals, LPG, palm oil and furnace oil respectively during last 24 hours.

A cargo volume of 176,751  tonnes, comprising 118,497 tonnes import cargo and 58,254 tonnes export cargo inclusive of containerized cargo carried in 3,183 containers (TEUs), 117 TEUs, imports and 3,066TEUs exports was handled at the port during last hours.

Oil tanker Karachi sailed out to sea on Thursday morning, while three more ships C.V ALP Miami, C.V Narmada and M.T Thomson Gas are expected to sail on same day in the afternoon. A total of five ships C.V CMA CGM Maupassand, M.T King Craft, M.T Khor Gas, M.T Maran Gas Asclepius and M.T Athina carrying containers, LPG, LNG and diesel oil are expected to take berths at QICT, SSGC, EVTl, EETL and FOTCO respectively on Thursday, while two more vessel Tucapel and Maersk Izmir re due to arrive at Port Qasim on Friday.
