Shipping activity at Port Qasim

KARACHI: Five ships C.V APL Charleston, C.V Maersk Kensington, M.T Al-Jassasiya, M.T As livia and M.T Lion-M carrying containers, LNG, Phosphoric Acid and Furnace oil were allotted berths at Qasim International Container Terminal, Engro Elengy Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal and Fotco Oil Terminal respectively during last 24 hours, said a report issued by Port Qasim Authority (PQA) here on Wednesday.

Meanwhile two more ships M.V Achilleas-S and M.T Tomson Gas with Coal and LPG also arrived at outer anchorage of Port Qasim during last 24 hours.

Seventy one percent berth occupancy was reported at the Port on Tuesday where a total of twelve ships namely APL Charleston, Maersk Kensington, MSC Joanna, Express Black Sea, Da Dan Xia, Sinar Kutal, Epic Sardinia, Three Saskias, As Olivia, Al-Jassasiya, Chemroad Haya and Lion-M were occupied at PQA berths to load/offload Containers, General Cargo, Coal, Soya Bean Seeds, Phosphoric Acid, LNG, Palm oil and Furnace oil respectively.

A record cargo handling was achieved at the port where a cargo volume of 202,288 tonnes, comprising 163,813 tonnes import cargo and 38,475 tonnes export cargo inclusive of containerized cargo carried in 4,109 containers (TEUs), (2,084 TEUs imports and 2,025 TEUs exports) was handled at the port.

Three ships, Maersk Kensington, Da Dan Xia and As Olivia are expected to sail on Wednesday afternoon. Chemicals carrier Epic Sicily is expected to take berth at Engro Terminal on Wednesday and Containers ship Mehun is due arrive at PQ on Thursday.
