KARACHI: Four ships C.V MSC Bilbao, C.V MSC Mars, C.V New Ark and M.T Maistros carrying containers and 55,000 tonnes Diesel oil were arranged berthing at Qasim International Container Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively during last 24 hours, said a report issued by Port Qasim Authority (PQA) here on Tuesday.
Berth occupancy was maintained at the port at 47% on Monday where a total of eight ships namely MSC Bilbao, MSC Mars, New Ark, Iifa, Epic Sardinia, Gas Log Santiago, Gas Esco and Maistros were occupied at PQA berths to load/offload Containers, Coal, LNG, LPG and Diesel oil respectively.
A cargo volume of 148,378 tonnes, comprising 111,993 tonnes import cargo and 36,385 tonnes export cargo inclusive of containerized cargo carried in 3,517 Containers (TEUs), (1,602 TEimports and 1,915 TEexports) was handled at the Port.
Three ships, Gas Log Santiago, Gas Esco and MSC Bilbao sailed out to sea on Tuesday morning while two more ships, MSC Mars and New Ark are expected to sail on same day in the after afternoon. A total of five ships C.V Maersk Denver, C.V MSC Algeciras, M.V Nicosia Pegasus, M.V Sinar Kutal and M.T YM Miranda carrying Containers, Coal and Chemicals are expected to take berths at QICT, FAP, MW-4 and EVTL respectively on Tuesday, while RORO ship Alliance Fairfax is due to arrive at PQ on same day and another Container ship CMA CGM Denver is due arrive on Wednesday.
