LONDON: High level debate at this year’s International Shipping Conference, organised this week in London by the International Chamber of Shipping (ICS), was followed by further discussions over drinks and canapés during a post-conference reception, sponsored by Bibby Ship Management.
Guests included key maritime leaders such as International Maritime Organisation Secretary-General Koji Sekimizu, ICS Chairman Masamichi Morooka, and key speakers such as Paul ‘Chip’ Jaenichen, US Maritime Administrator, Jorge L Quijano, Administrator of the Panama Canal Authority and Egyptian shipping consultant Sherine El Naggar. Guests mingled with ship owners, administrators and industry leaders as they further considered the issues of the day, ranging from predictions on global economic trends and developments in environmental regulation to the rescue at sea crisis which was debated after a particularly insightful presentation from Rear Admiral Christiano Aliperta of the Italian Coast Guard.
Chris Stone, Chief Operating Officer of Bibby Ship Management, said: “Bibby Ship Management is a keen supporter of the International Chamber of Shipping so we were delighted to sponsor the drinks reception again at the end of this very thought-provoking ICS Conference, which was such an important part of this week’s highly successful London International Shipping Week.”
