Show cause notice to M/s Friends Traders on Sales Tax evasion

ISLAMABAD: Collector Customs Adjudication Ihsan Ali Shah has issued a show cause notice to M/s Friends Traders Rawalpindi on the Sales Tax evasion.

The Directorate General Audit Customs has observed that for the year 2013-14 that M/s Friends Traders, office No.1 and 2nd Floor Shainghai Plaza, College Road, Rawalpindi, imported finished goods of leather, textile, carpets, sports and surgical goods from China and got the same cleared from Islamabad Dry Port at a concessionary rate of Sales Tax rate of five percent under the SRO 1125 (1) 2011 dated 31-12-2011 despite the fact that the said finished goods have been excluded from the purview of said SRO and amending SRO 504 (1) 2013 dated 12-06-2013, thus due to claim of an inadmissible concession under the aforesaid SRO it resulted in short realization of government revenue of Rs6.23million. Accordingly M/s Friends Traders Rawalpindi alleged to have violated the provision of section 32 (A) of the Customs Act-1969, punishable under section 156 (1) of the Customs Act-1969. A contravention report against the importer had been submitted before the collector adjudication.
