SHC asks Customs officials to obtain stay or return vehicle to owner

KARACHI: Sindh High Court ordered the customs officials to either obtain a stay order or return the vehicle to owner.

SHC bench comprising Justice Munib Akhtar and Justice Arshad Hussain Khan on Thursday earlier Ms Dil Khurram Shaheen advocate, counsel for petitioner Rauf Khan.

The counsel informed the court that petitioner was ready to pay 20 per cent fine as ordered by the Collector concerned however department is not releasing the vehicle.

The counsel for department informed the bench that an appeal against order of the collector has been filed. The bench after this information asked the Customs to either obtain a stay order or to release the vehicle to the petitioner before next date of hearing.

The same bench also adjourned hearing of a petition filed by owner of a Wrangler Jeep. When the petition was taken up, the counsel for Pakistan Customs submitted that the vehicle has been brought to the SHC and handed over to the Registrar of the SHC.
