Sialkot ASO, Gujranwala Customs examine documents of 500 vehicles in two days

SIALKOT: The teams of Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) of Zone-I, II and III of the Customs House Sialkot and Customs Intelligence and Investigation Department Gujranwala division have examined the documents of more than 500 vehicles at Kamoke Wazirabad, Gujrat River Chenab bridge, Sialkot, Narowal, Link Road Mandi Bahaud Din and Hafizabad Check posts during the last two days.

The Customs established these check-posts to impound non-duty paid vehicles or tempered vehicles which are plying on roads without any legal documents. ASO Inspectors Sheikh Ikram and Muhammad Mansha are performing their duties in a joint operation against smugglers and smuggled goods in this region. While Customs Intelligence and Investigation Inspector Majid Raza and Mian Muhammad Yousaf are also deputed at Wazirabad and GT Road check post.

During search near Kamoky Check Post  Anti Smuggling Organization has examined the documents of more than 500 vehicles but all were proved legal as authentic documents were provided from all the owners of searched vehicles.

An officer deployed at check-post said that due to the deployment of staff and effective monitoring from Customs Intelligence and Investigation, Anti Smuggling Organization, Excise and Taxation Department, Police and Motorway police the smugglers are avoiding these routes. Meanwhile Collector Customs House Sialkot Ahmed Raza Khan, Director Excise and Taxation Department Gujranwala division Rao Shakeeur Rehman has also visited check posts for examination of route.
