Sialkot ASO impounds Toyota Mark-X worth Rs2m

SIALKOT: Gujranwala Customs Intelligence and Investigation has impounded a non-duty paid Toyota Mark-X vehicle worth Rs2 million during vehicles checking on Grand Trunk (GT) Road.

Under the directions of Deputy Director Ali Zeb Khan the Deputy Superintendent Muhammad Sarwar constituted a team to check the vehicles on the above said road. The Customs Intelligence team fromed check post at GT Road and started the checking of vehicles.

During the checking vehicles the team intercepted a Car Toyota Mark-X bearing registration number ACE-166-ICT Model 2013 which was coming from Islamabad and going to Lahore the team asked driver Rasheed about customs clearance documents of the car but he was failed to produce the said documents.

The driver told the team I don’t know about customs-duty paid documents while the owner of the car is a renowned personality and he knows better about booking papers. The team impounded the car and released driver after proper interrogation.

The Intelligence team intimated the driver if he will produce documents then the department release car after charging of reasonable fine but the driver was not contacted team to produce document whereas the team has challaned of driver and issue legal notice to owner of car.

The team shifted the car in the compound of department office and case forward to Adjudication court for hearing. If the court will announce judgment in the favour of Department then it authorize to auction car as per customs laws and customs Act 1969.
