Sialkot ASO plans to monitor activities of goods transport companies

SIALKOT: The Customs Anti-Smuggling Organisation (ASO) has chalked out a plan to monitor the activities of goods transport companies in Gujranwala division.

ASO incharge Assistant Collector Fahad Bashir Chaudhary told Custom Today this step has been taken following the involvement of various goods transport companies in smuggling of the goods and other items.

He said that the people from Rawalpindi, Peshawar and other parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhawa booked their smuggled goods through transport companies for supplying them to other parts of country.

He disclosed that valuable items, including auto parts, computer parts, imported clothes, tyres, tea, mobile phones, LCDs, LEDs etc were smuggled from Afghanistan and sent to various districts of Punjab causing losses to the national exchequer.

The assistant collector said that special teams of the Customs Intelligence have started checking of these goods transport companies, adding that accused persons will have bear the full weight of law.
