Sialkot ASO recovers non-duty paid black tea

SIALKOT: The Customs Anti-Smuggling Organisation (ASO) has seized four bags of black tea during anti-smuggling operation.

According to sources, Assistant Collector Fahad Bashir Chaudhary along with Inspector Sheikh Ikram and other team members raided a godown of a private goods transport company and recovered four bags filled with black tea.

The team members asked the owners of the godown to produce documents regarding the legal import of the tea but he failed to provide any relevant documents. Upon his failure, the ASO team seized four bags of black tea.

According to ASO Incharge the value of seized black tea is almost Rs 71,000 involving duty/taxes amounting to Rs 40,000. The team summoned the owner to ASO office to explain the reasons regarding custody of black tea.
