Sialkot ASO seizes cumin seeds priced Rs125000

SIALKOT: Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO), Sialkot, has confiscated the smuggled Indian origin cumin seeds worth Rs125000 under the Kashmir Transit Trade on Sambrial Road on the other day. Under the directions of Assistant Collector and Incharge ASO Ali Mohtashim Minhas, Superintendent, ASO, Sardar Manzoor constituted a team under the supervision of Inspector Arshad Maqbool to check the vehicles on Sambrial Road. The said inspector intercepted a van with registration No: MR-3212 (AJK) and recovered the smuggled Indian origin cumin seeds from the secret boxes of van.

The team asked Driver Rashid about the payment of customs duty of the recovered cumin seeds but he failed to prove the legal status of the goods. The driver told the team that he is only a driver of this public transport and he has loaded the seeds from the stand of Mirpur (AJK) and the stand manager knows better about documents.

The team released the driver with the van after proper interrogation. The team registered a case under Section 157/58 of customs laws and also challaned driver. Later, a legal notice will also be issued to the van stand manager. The confiscation is part of the campaign launched by the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR). The team will forward the case to the adjudication court for proceeding.
