Sialkot ASO seizes Indian origin cigarettes, soap during road checking

SIALKOT:  The Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) of Customs Sialkot has recovered 100 packets of smuggled Indian origin cigarettes and soap. The ASO team also recovered a huge quantity of mobile phones.

Sources told Customs Today that Deputy Collector Waheed Anwar Abro directed Superintendent Suhail Butt to constitute a team to check non-duty paid vehicles plying on roads. He formed a team under the supervision of  Inspector Rao Muhammad Nawaz and Amjad Ali . The team started checking of vehicles on GT Road. During the checking, they intercepted a truck bearing registration number MR 329-05  which was coming from Mirpur Azad Kashmir near Kamoke Toll Plaza.

The team asked the driver who was identified as Shoukat to produce legal documents regarding possession of these goods but the driver failed to show any relevant documents. After their failure ASO team seized the goods and also impounded the vehicle which was being used for transportation of these goods. ASO team also registered a case of smuggling against accused persons.

It is necessary to mention here that ASO authorities are expedite their efforts to curb smuggling in the region.

The team also recovered 10,000 mobile phones from a truck on other day and also impounded two trucks which were coming from Mirpur AJK under Kashmir Transit Trade.
