Sialkot ASO seizes non-duty paid Indian origin red chili

SIALKOT: Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) of Model Customs Collectorate, Sialkot has confiscated Indian origin red chili worth Rs 80,000 during vehicle checking on Sambrial Road.

Under the directions of Customs Collector Ahmed Reza Khan, the ASO Incharge (ASO) Assistant Collector Chaudhary Fahad Bashir constituted a team under the supervision of Superintendent Sardar Manzoor.  The team formed check point on Sambrial Road and started checking of vehicles.

During the checking of vehicles the team intercepted a buss which was coming from Mirpur (AJK) and going to Sialkot. While the searching of the bus the team recovered smuggled red chili worth Rs80,000.

The team asked driver namely Muhammad Riaz about booking papers of recovered red chili but  he failed to produce any booking papers and he said that the red chili was loaded from buss stand of Mirpur (AJK) and I don’t know about booking papers of it.

The team confiscated the red chili and shifted in store room of Customs Collectorat Sialkot. Hence the team released driver after proper interrogation with buss. The ASO team registers a case under Customs Laws whereas the team will refer case before the Adjudication Court for proceeding. If the learned court will announce judgment in favor of the department then the it will authorized to auction of confiscated red chili according to Customs Laws and Customs Act 1969. It is learnt that the ASO of Sialkot is in full swing to curb smuggling from the region whereas the good results are observing day by day of ASO performance.
