Sialkot ASO seizes non-duty paid Indian origin red chillies

SIALKOT: Customs collectorate Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) Sialkot team has confiscated smuggled Indian origin red chillies worth Rs 100,000 from a truck under Kashmir Transit Trade the other day.

Sources told Customs Today that Deputy Collector Muhammad Hanif deputed Inspector Muhammad Amjad to check vehicles on GT Road to curb smuggling under anti-smuggling campaign.

The said inspector along with his team started checking of vehicles on GT Road near Kamoke Toll Plaza. The team intercepted a truck and recovered some bags of filled with Indian origin red chillies. The team asked driver Raja Talat about documents regarding possession and transportation of of red chillies but the driver told that these bags were loaded from Bagh area of Azad Jammu and Kashmir but failed to show any legal documents.

The team released driver after some initial interrogations and truck after proper interrogation. The ASO authorities seized the Indian origin red chillies and registered a case of smuggling against accused persons.
