SIALKOT: The Anti-Smuggling Organisation (ASO) seized 15,000 kilograms of smuggled Iranian dry dates worth Rs 1 million the other day.
Sources told Customs Today that Assistant Collector Fahad Bashir Chaudhary deputed Inspector Sheikh Ikram on GT Road Toll Plaza Kamoke for checking of suspicious vehicles. The inspector along with his team started checking of vehicles during which the team intercepted a truck and recovered 15,000 kilogram smuggled Iranian dry dates.
The team asked driver of the vehicle who was identified as Muhammad Sharif about documents of customs clearance of dry dates but the drive was failed to satisfy the team.The team confiscated dry dates alongwith truck and released the driver after proper investigations.
