Sialkot ASO launches crackdown to quell sale of items smuggled through Afghan Transit Trade

SIALKOT: Customs Anti-Smuggling Organisation (ASO) Fahad Bashir Chaudhary said that a crackdown has been launched against smugglers and shopkeepers who are involved in selling smuggled items in guise of the Afghan Transit Trade.

Talking to Customs Today, he said that the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has instructed all customs collectors to curb smuggling. He added that Sialkot Customs Collector Ahmad Reza is reviewing the performance of the ASO on daily basis, besides visiting the check posts regularly.

He said that all customs officers and subordinates officials were performing their duties actively, adding that officials patrolled the area daily to curb the smuggling.

The operation against smugglers will end the menace of smuggling from the region as well from country, he said, adding that the customs officials were also checking the trains.
