Sialkot businessmen protest against proposed increase in GST

SIALKOT: Sialkot based leading industrialists, traders and exporters, today, held a protest march to condemn the proposed 3 percent surge in general sales tax by Federal Board of Revenue in the coming Federal Budget 2015-16.

President Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI), Fazal Jillani, led this protest march. The Sialkot exporters marched on Sialkot city’s commercial hub to Paris hub. Protestor carrying anti-government banners and placards chanted slogans.

The protesting Sialkot industrialists, traders and exporters urged the government not to increase the existing ratio of GST in the coming budget, besides, withdrawing the SRO 492(1) in the larger interest of the exporters.

They also announced to besiege the FBR offices in Sialkot, besides, locking up their factories on May 27, 2015, if the said SRO was not withdrawn by the FBR, in this regard.
