Sialkot Collector to appoint ‘Attachment Officers’ to recover revenue

SIALKOT: Collector Customs of Model Customs Collectorate (MCC) Ahmed Reza Khan has revealed that the collectorate will appoint “Attachment officers” soon to execute the revenue recovery in befitting manner.

The collector said the authorities concerned of the collectorate, after getting complete information of the defaulters, will appoint ‘Attachment Officers’ in the final phase of the revenue recovery for collecting the debts.

To a query, Collector Ahmed Reza informed this scribe that the collectorate will also contact the National Database Regulatory Authority (NADRA), State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) and other commercial banks for getting complete details of the defaulters. “The attachment officer will attach the property and bank accounts of the defaulters in case of non-payment of outstanding amounts mounted against any importers”, he asserted. Ahmed Reza further said steps are being taken against the defaulters according to the recovery rules.

“The authorities concerned have been also approaching the authorities of Sales Tax and Income Tax to find the details of the deposited duty/taxes by the importers for the last 20 years”, he added. Responding to another query, Ahmed Reza said the collectorate has appointed individual officers to follow the FTO, tribunal and court cases to ensure speedy recovery of revenue.

Terming the case related to the import of banned antibiotic into country as “test case”, collector Ahmed Reza asserted that the said case will certainly get a “logical end”. He said the investigation team of MCC Sialkot is investigating the case and its inquiry into the case is going towards right direction. Responding yet to another query, the collector claimed that the Pakistan Customs will definitely solve the case and bring the accused into the court of law as soon as possible.
