Sialkot Custom staff directed to tighten noose around smugglers’ neck

SIALKOT: Model Customs Collectorate Additional Collector Abdul Waheed Abro has instructed all subordinates to play an active role for curbing the smuggling in region.

He said that the government was taking keen interest in eliminating smuggling from the region, adding that the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has issued directions in this regard.

Following the directions of the FBR, the staff of Sialkot Customs and Anti-Smuggling Organisation (ASO) were working round the cloth to tackle the smuggling, he said, adding that Collector Ahmad Reza and other high ups personally visited the check posts established in the region in order to motivate the officials.

The officials were asked to visit the local markets and check every shop to detect the person involved in selling of smuggled items causing loss to national kitty. The departments concerned were also taking action against the smugglers, he said.
