Sialkot Customs confiscates items worth Rs 28.87m in April

SIALKOT: The Customs Anti-Smuggling Organisation (ASO) made significant progress against smuggling and seized non-duty paid goods and vehicles worth Rs 28.87 million in April 2016 as compared to Rs 14.87 million during the same period last year.

The ASO officials, following the directions of Collector Ahmad Reza, conducted various anti-smuggling operations in the region. Under the supervision of Assistant Collector Fahad Bashir Chaudhary, the ASO team headed by Inspector Sheikh Ikram foiled many smuggling bids and showed exceptional performance than the last year.

During July, 2015 to April 2016, the ASO confiscated items worth Rs 306.63 million, while during same period of last year; the figure was stood at Rs 26.77 million. Evidently, it surpassed the figure by Rs 38.86 million in running year.
